The social world has tremendously affected every person’s day-to-day life. It seems quite even seem impossible to imagine to be living without technology and social communication. This trend has naturally been transferred to the business world, where the new technologies have opened up so many exciting opportunities. The businesses out there are no longer confined by location or restricted by infrastructure.
Well, in my personal experience, affiliate marketing makes up the largest chunk of my blog income. Since getting started back in October, I’ve made a few thousand dollars from affiliate marketing (including $1500 in the first 30 days!). The road to get there wasn’t easy though… affiliate marketing isn’t just about dropping links and hoping people will buy things. There is, in fact, a lot more strategic thinking involved, which brings us to the next major question:
Despite its older origins, email marketing is still a viable source of affiliate marketing income. Some affiliates have email lists they can use to promote the seller’s products. Others may leverage email newsletters that include hyperlinks to products, earning a commission after the consumer purchases the product. Another method is for the affiliate to cultivate email lists over time. They use their various campaigns to collect emails en masse, then send out emails regarding the products they are promoting.
Most affiliate marketers choose a WordPress blog as the platform for their website because it’s very low cost and offers unmatched content creation possibilities. The WordPress platform is free — your only out-of-pocket cost of having a WordPress site is hosting. This runs just $2.95 per month with our preferred hosting provider, Bluehost, plus you get to test it out with its 30-day trial. You also get a free domain name, which is your website address and a free business email to make it all official.
Thanks bro. Its been a while i visited your blog. I am happy to see that you changed the theme. Now your blog looks awesome.. I think now you are pro in word press. Affiliate marketing is the toughest way of earning money as of my experience. Being an affiliate marketer you should have knowledge about the kind of visitors to your blog. One should be very much careful while using adsense because chances of getting banned are very much high. Getting an approved affiliate marketing account is something like sipping a cup of coffee. It’s not about getting approved its about how you work on affiliate marketing,
I do find the rejections strange sometimes, and you are SO right that often there doesn’t appear to be a good reason. Just yesterday I got a rejection from a program I applied to months and months ago citing that “my site wasn’t a good fit”, but I had actually been accepted to them through CJ Affiliate when I first applied and have been generating pretty consistent sales haha. Oh well! Guess we’ll never know the “inner workings” of it all, but thanks for reading Robert 😀
Affiliate marketing as a monetization stream is perfect for bloggers, because we recommend things on a daily basis. It’s also a largely passive way to make money, which frees up your time to do other cool things, like travel and eat your weight in pie. Long story short: affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to monetize your blog, so you should read on to learn all about it!

Thank you for your message. I approve Clickbank 100%. Whilst there are some questionable products on there, there are other great products that you can promote. I also wrote a comprehensive Clickbank affiliate marketing guide here on my blog if you have not yet seen it. https://iamdawn-marie.com/clickbank-internet-marketing/. Hope it’s useful to you 🙂
There’s no one way or a specific order of operations when it comes to setting up an affiliate site. More often you start with researching a niche market, reviewing the affiliate offers available to you, assessing the competition and creating a website to capture interest in someone else’s product or service. Everyone has their own process, so in this piece I will give you mine. Here are the steps required to get your own affiliate website off the ground and start driving traffic to your promoted products.
If you’re hoping to do this all yourself rather than hire help, then expect to devote a significant amount of time to learning the ropes. If you have a budget and intend to hire help, then you still want to make sure you have enough understanding of the different online marketing areas to know which ones you want to pursue and be able to hire someone that knows what they’re doing.

And while that may sound like a tall order, just remember that all you need to do to be unique is act like yourself as you write reviews or provide readers with blog posts and articles full of interesting information. The important part is to keep up the volume since the longer you wait between articles, the further your website will fall in the search engine rankings.
Hello, my name is Evelyn and thanks for visiting my site Begin At Zero. I started this website because I enjoy looking for ways to make money online. I learned from researching online that finding the right business is like finding the right ONE. We don't want NO lying, NO cheating and NO up-sells. These businesses are always wanting you to join their business. Just like any first date, the business should fork the bill. What I mean is that there should be a free version. Stay safe, keep your money in the bank and don't be too easy.
Unless you’ve written a long-form guide or eBook substantially more than 4,000 words, you might not be familiar with the benefits and simply think it’s a ton of work. If you have, then no doubt you’ve decided whether this style of content is worth the effort. There are loads of reasons to write more. Ultimately, written longer copy will get you more of what you want: visibility (links and social shares) further proof of your industry expertise and more material for altruistic engagement and community building with your target audience.
SiteGround has a very user-friendly cPanel with free installation of apps. Their backend is completely drag and drop so you can quickly get your site up and running. They do not have any special marketing credits but they offer tons of customer support and guidance to help you craft the perfect marketing plan. Plus, they have plenty of free SEO and analytics tools built into their backend to make sure your site is fully optimized and you reach your ideal customers.
With the ability to rank organically in search engine queries, bloggers excel at increasing a seller’s conversions. The blogger samples the product or service and then writes a comprehensive review that promotes the brand in a compelling way, driving traffic back to the seller’s site. The blogger is awarded for his or her influence spreading the word about the value of the product, helping to improve the seller’s sales.
Many affiliate programs will often run promotions with good discounts or giveaways that might be attractive to your audience. For example, if you're an Amazon Associate and the site have a big Holiday Sale, it would be the perfect opportunity for you to promote discounts to your website visitors. This is a great way to promote your offers while also providing good value to your audience.
Videos can be particularly useful if the affiliate products you are promoting are complicated to use. That could be a complicated game or a piece of software with new features to get to grips with. You’ll find that many products would benefit from a tutorial that offers visitors a visual walkthrough of how it looks or how to perform a certain action. These are far more helpful for some people than trying to understand the same information in words.
An affiliate marketing website or blog filled with all different types of products in various categories is one without much direction, and one that won’t keep potential leads coming back. This approach to affiliate marketing is messy, and it won’t lead your desired audience to your content as you won’t have a specific desired audience to focus on. Rather than taking a “more is more” approach, focus on one type of niche market, and review, link to and create content surrounding that particular market instead of two, or three, or a whole bevy of different markets of products. If you offer baby products, for instance, don’t sprinkle in car parts, or if you’re focusing on GPS technologies, don’t add in body care products. You want your visitors to look to you as a trusted resource on a product, not a general resource for many.
You don’t need a website or blog to run adverts on Facebook, you just need a Facebook page for your affiliate account. The best thing about running ads on Facebook is the privilege to target your audience. This way you can be sure that your campaign is sent to the right people. Advertising costs as little as five dollars a day and you can run a test for a week to evaluate their performance. Since facebook purchased Instagram in 212, advertising via Facebook also targets Instagram users which could translate into more conversions..
The site has grown immensely popular as one of the first of its kind, though its design has been mimicked endlessly in the years since it reached success. It’s estimated that, as of the time of the post I linked above, it was making an estimated $20,000 per month from Amazon affiliate sales alone, along with more from, eBay partner sales and referrals to a whole host of other sites, like ThinkGeek and Wicked Lasers.
In my opinion it’s better to use Facebook’s Ad Manager. You will find that if you click in the top right corner of your page. In the drop down menu you will something called ‘Create Ads’. Click on that. You just have more control over who sees your ad and more options are available to you. You can choose the action you want people to take when they see your post.
Betfair Affiliates is the affiliate marketing program for the well known Betfair betting website. Betfair’s primary market is sports betting. It’s actually a betting exchange, so it allows gamblers to place lay bets too – in other words, bets that bank on the opposite outcome. Betfair also offers in-play betting that allows users to lock in profits before the match ends. They also have great offers for the new customers to Betfair Casino.
Thanks for reading, Charmaine! I’m not sure about Hong Kong-specific affiliate programs, but what I would say is that most retailers do have an affiliate program in place, so if there’s a particular HK brand or company you use a lot, Google their name + affiliate program to see if they have one. Besides that, the ones I suggested are open to you regardless of where you’re from!
Most people typically progress into White Labeling after they've had some success with another product; typically as a way to solidify the gains they've had in that area. This means that if you're looking at getting the most out of a market, it will give you the ability to take some market share without needing to completely design a new product from scratch.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #4 – Relevance: To be a successful affiliate the product you are promoting should be relevant to the content of the site you are promoting from. For example, if you write a blog about Bass fishing then your affiliate links and banners should appeal to bass fishermen. If you have banners for food and wine companies or cruise lines on your bass fishing blog, you may accidently get the occasional click and purchase –but it will be very occasional. Whereas if your links and banners were to a company that sells bass boats, rods and reels and bass fishing guides, they you will see a lot of potential earnings.
Hi Mauricio truthfully I was not aware that WP could be hacked so that never crossed my mind. But if you have these concerns there are other content management platforms such as SquareSpace, Wix, Weebly that do an awesome job. They may not be as good as WP but they still get the job done. I love WP because of all the plug ins and themes that are available to help me customise my website the way I like it. I’m not very sure that SquareSpace, Wix or Weebly has the same. Good luck on whatever you choose.
I was able to make my first online dollars through Amazon Affiliate sales… It was never much and in the beginning I was just excited to make $10 in a month, which was enough for a free ebook or two. With regular updates and link inclusions in my posts over time I was able to grow the number up to like $300 a month–which I was pretty happy with. Of course the payout rates are paltry compared to a sale of an info product like one from Unconventional Guides, etc. Thing is, people seem to be more open to purchasing physical products rather than information products…
There are many other actions, that you get paid for, even if the product is not sold. With the CPA model, the merchant is taking the advertising risk since their commission is dependant on achieving a good conversion rate from the affiliates creative content and website. As the website owner, it’s your job to make the website and the offer look attractive enough for the visitor to submit their information. Once they do, the merchant will pay you the agreed upon amount of money for the lead.
You can seek assistance from the reputed affiliate tracking software available. From creating an affiliate signup page for you, or adding affiliates from the system to welcoming affiliates with an automated email, it makes the entire process a cakewalk for you at a reasonable price. But, before you find the best affiliate marketing tool, you must keep these few rules in your mind.
4) The Site’s Niche – Check out Commission Junction and Clickbank… and you’ll see that there is virtually an endless list of products you can promote. However, the “Best-Selling” or “Top Products” from affiliate networks shouldn’t be the only deciding factor when picking your site’s niche. Choosing a niche for your affiliate site should involve more research and analysis than that. After all, the success of your site relies mostly on your topic’s level of demand and how well you take advantage of your readers’ needs.
Unfortunately, the 2Checkout dashboard is a bit limited in scope, making it difficult to get any metrics on conversion rates or even sorting by commission payouts. The workaround is to go to the Avangate store, which does list their best-selling products, and then search for these on the affiliate dashboard. That being said, 2Checkout does offer products from more than 4,000 different vendors, making it the leading affiliate network for software and digital products.
VigLink is an intermediary platform, so it can serve as a backdoor for affiliates who have previously been banned/suspended from working with other affiliate programs like Amazon. And while you can choose specific merchants or offers, VigLink can be set up to work automatically by scanning your published content and dynamically generating affiliate links, making it a great choice for established content producers who are looking for a simpler way to generate revenue via an affiliate program.

ClickBank allows you to join for free, and the approval process is virtually automatic, so it’s a great choice for people entering the affiliated game for the first time. ClickBank has a ton of information, including FAQs, walk-throughs, and videos available, so the barrier to entry is quite low. There’s also a (paid) program called ClickBank University with courses and assistance from experienced marketers.

By quite a large margin Amazon has the largest affiliate marketing program out there, with products from more than 1.5 million sellers. Amazon has the most easy-to-use technology of all the affiliate programs I will be reviewing today. Beginners to affiliate marketing with even the most limited technical expertise will have no problems in getting up and running with the Amazon associates program, while more experienced marketers can create custom tools and websites with the APIs and advanced implementations available to them. The great thing about Amazon is that anything from kids toys to laptops can generate sales if they are purchased through any Amazon affiliate link.

One of the most popular affiliate networks around, Clickbank is known for giving out higher than average commissions (50-75% on certain digital products), as well as having a massive product database from which to promote. Just by clicking on the “Affiliate Marketplace” section of Clickbank’s site, you will witness a myriad of products from all categories. Next to each product there is information about how much money you’ll earn for each sale and what percentage of the sale price makes up your final cut.
If you can test the product first, do it. There’s a reason why many affiliate marketers stick to digital products – they’re cheaper to buy, test and review. But if you can find a way to get a hold of the product first before promoting it to your readers, your post about that particular product would hold much more value since you’ve tested it firsthand. You don’t even have to buy it – some manufacturers would gladly ship out a product free if you’re already an authority in your industry.
Email marketing: Email is a proven winner for many affiliate marketers. As an affiliate startup, you can start a free email account with MailChimp, Drip or another email marketing service and gather email addresses on your website and use email marketing to send informative affiliate content and targeted product promotions to subscribers from day one.
If you are building a site that has the potential for information that will never age and remain useful for your audience, you have the opportunity to create what is known as evergreen content. It's important to carry out extensive keyword research before planning any evergreen content for a site like this, as your site could hugely benefit from the proper usage of keywords within such content.
If your domain is your address, hosting is like the actual house within which your site will live. It's your own little slice of the internet — the place where all your website files live. Hosting is very affordable these days, so don't unnecessarily scrimp on costs. Go with a reputable, reliable provider because your affiliate marketing business depends on it.
Finding a WordPress theme for your site is one of the fun parts of launching an affiliate marketing business. Themes drive the look and functionality of your website and, with WordPress, it’s easy to try out different themes until you find the perfect design for your site. There are plenty of themes to choose from and many are free. Find out more about using themes in our WordPress themes guide and check out Envato Market and MyThemeShop for great-looking themes — including many free options.
I live in Jamaica and I’ve tried and become miserably frustrated with affiliate marketing. “They” always made it seem so easy yet it can be quite an uphill struggle. I’m quite fascinated with the prospect of making passive income especially after earning my first $20 (which i still havent collected lol) and Your post has been very informative and encouraging; Thank you. I’m definitely gonna get that course you recommend when I begin again. Thanks a million for being so real and all the best with blog!
ThemeForest offers, perhaps, the biggest collection of templates on the web. On their website you may find 31,000+ templates of all types and categories. ThemeForest is a part of Envato Marketplace, which provides you with more possibilities to earn, as you get your commission if the person you referred buys any Envato product. To become an affiliate you need to create an Envato account and obtain approval. After that, you generate your referral link and send traffic to any Envato page. You are going to get 30% commission for the first cash deposit or purchase the person has made. There are some eCommerce themes that cost $79-$90, but the price of the majority of the templates varies from $10 to $40.
Comparison sites should write in a way that’s more educational than salesy. People would rather not feel persuaded which is why this writer has made it clear they are recommending the product. This information included will be valuable to anyone trying to decide between competing products and they won’t have to go elsewhere for any additional information. As such, this type of page builds trust in the quality and intent behind the content. Readers are more likely to click on links in these types of pages, and with a bit of luck, make a purchase, better still they may depend on this publisher for product comparisons in the future. For a more detailed guide to creating your own comparative site, check out FATbit technologies post about launching a successful comparison website.
thanks for stopping by and congrats on your motivation and progress in growing your business! Staying focused and winning against distractions is an ongoing challenge in our business. Of course, I can not say in general how much time it takes to gain some decent rankings. There are too many things having impact on that. But if you follow a solid and proven concept, what I see most is that after half a year of consistent work you can really start picking the fruits of your hard work. All the best and keep up the good work!

How many words should be included in your keywords? Think about it this way. Long-tail keywords (3-5 words) have a narrower scope but are more likely to attract leads—quality over quantity. Short-tail keywords (1-2 words) usually cover a much broader topic, which can be both good and bad. It’s best to focus more on your long-tail keywords in order to really hone in on your site’s specificity and uniqueness. I’ve found that long-tail research tends to breed many short-tail options from within the longer phrases. If you start with “oak dining room tables” you’ll be able to break it down to “dining tables” and ultimately “home furniture.” That’s a simplistic example, but you get what we mean. If you start your keyword research too broadly you’ll struggle to rank and generate traffic.
I’m not sure of the exact reasons why I started to rank, but I have a few theories. It was a very long, honest, and informative post on the subject. I believe this made it stand out from all the other reviews in which the author just wrote up a basic summary of what it’s about. It also is one of the latest reviews on the book, so perhaps google freshness has something to do with it. I haven’t done any linkbuilding on this page and it currently sits at #2.
WordPress is still the most popular website-building platform, because it's so flexible - users can buy templates, or develop their own, which will transform how their site looks, and can display words, videos and images in various formats - for example like a magazine, a blog, or an e-commerce site. The problem with WordPress is that it's so fiddly - you need to know your way around HTML code to make minor tweaks in the back end; if you do, that's fine, but with other interfaces, it's not a requirement.

Totally agree with your opinion on affiliate marketing. I’m in the same space myself and can tell you what it feels like to earn $1000 commissions while literally sitting on the sofa watching TV. It is absolutely mind-blowing. High-ticket commissions are what sets apart the affiliate marketers that scale their business up to six or even seven figures to the ones that only make a few thousand a month. I run a website based on digital marketing an entrepreneurship. You should check out our affiliate program – it is guaranteed to blow your mind. 🙂

Reviewing products is a classic affiliate marketing technique. Simply write your opinion on a product or service based on your personal experience. Since you’re already going to be spending a lot of your time promoting products, reviews are a natural addition to affiliate marketing website. Again, when well researched, they offer value to your readers who are at the stage of choosing between similar products, while offering the opportunity to include tracking links to the products in a more natural setting. A particularly good example of affiliate review work is NerdWallet. Delivering practical advice on products and services in the financial industry. The difference between a good and a not so good review affiliate is respectability: those which deliver high-quality content
Great article as it gets me thinking about the various ways to monetize my sites. With that said, my biggest hurdle has been how to get started building traffic. You see articles all over the net talking about massive traffic techniques, but I’ve never really found a guide for a fresh blog/website and how to get to their first 100, 500, or 1,000 daily uniques. Of course writing consistent quality content is key, but writing alone an audience does not make. Any tips or articles to point us to? Thanks again Sean!
Once you get your basic website set up, your affiliates all arranged, and you start producing content that other people might want to see, it’s time to learn how to market yourself so that people will start visiting your site and finding out what you have to offer. If it’s good, word of mouth will bring others to see your website, and that (along with more marketing and SEO) will slowly but surely grow your audience. But to learn more about that, you should read some of the other articles on this site.

Put your favorite products front and center. The Points Guy has a “Top Cards” section in the main navigation menu that simply lists the top travel credit cards. It doesn’t bring in as much traffic as some of the other content, but it does okay. It’s an easy place for people to find the most important products for those interested in this sort of thing.
Weebly is a complete platform that allows people to start and grow their online business with curated website templates, eCommerce features, and integrated marketing. Over 40 million entrepreneurs use Weebly with more than 325 million unique viewers each month. Plans range from Free to $25 per month with enterprise offerings as well. They are the highest rated website building mobile app on both the App Store and Google Play.
JVZoo lets you both host and create landing pages on their own website, so it’s far better suited for professional marketers who want to flood the internet with offers, many of them for courses to make money. You don’t need your own website to participate in JVZoo, but you will need to know how to drive traffic to a landing or squeeze page in order to profit from being a JVZoo affiliate.

Social media marketers often say sponsored social messages (the ones you pay for) are more effective than many of the other marketing tactics. Paid social ads increase your reach and since social media platforms have a lot of information about their users demographics and behaviour, these can be leveraged to target your desired audience. If you want to put your money where your mouth is, your best bet is through the follow platforms.

As you grow as an affiliate marketer, you’ll likely use the same affiliate link on tons of different blog posts. For that reason, managing and organizing your affiliate links in WordPress is essential. If you use an affiliate link management plugin like ThirstyAffiliates, you can organize all of your affiliate links in a single place, so finding and replacing them won’t be a hassle.

Choose your affiliate products wisely by going through all the alternatives offered by different affiliate marketing programs. Gain understanding of which products would interest your website visitors. Based on the information gathered keep changing the ads intermittently and try different text and images to see what works best. What you need to understand is that this is a time-consuming affair and so, it may take some time before you get the find the best option that works. Rotating ads at a regular interval may also create the curiosity among readers compelling them to click on the affiliate link and purchase.

Great article Vera. You outlined all major reasons why people fail in affiliate marketing and I completely agree with all of them. I think the main problem is that most affiliate marketers promote products they haven’t tried and don’t believe them to be really worth paying for. They think of money first before providing value. I also agree that ywhen you are just starting online you need to focus on one niche, one website only until you become successful. Jumping from product to product, from niche to niche is not a good start.
I've been building affiliate websites for more than a decade, and earning a decent income from those sites.  The great thing about affiliate websites is that if you build them correctly, they'll mature over time and reward you month after month, year after year in passive income.  However, if you build them incorrectly, you will simply be wasting your time.  In the last few years, Google have tightened the noose around webmasters out to make a quick buck by gaming the system.  This course was created to show you how I build successful affiliate websites now, in 2019 and beyond.  I'll take you from the very beginning and show you, over-my-shoulder, how I:

Ahh thanks for the kind words. Glad you found the post helpful. I would focus on building up a good base of content first before adding affiliate links, because like you said, some programs might not accept you if your blog is still so new. 2 posts is a nice start, but I’d definitely work your way up to 10-15 posts, enough to “fill up” the blog before you apply for affiliate programs. That’s just my opinion though! The other thing about starting too early is that you haven’t really established authority or a solid audience that trusts you yet, so the odds of readers making purchases through you is much lower as well. Focus on content first, then programs! The good thing is, you’ve taken Michelle’s course, which I thought was super helpful in terms of getting in the right mindset for affiliate marketing. Now that you know what sort of content works, you can get a good strategy set out from the beginning. 🙂 Best of luck!

You can do it all right from your mobile device: Create, manage, and edit your website from any device with Weebly iPhone, iPad and Android apps. This is great if you’ve on the go alot and don’t always have a computer in front of you. Full eCommerce functionality lets you manage your business from anywhere and stay connected to your customers on the go.

Most of the work in terms of background pictures and videos, insertion of images into articles, and placement of advertising, can be done with a drag-and-drop, meaning you shouldn't have to spend any precious time that could otherwise be spent devising killer content and getting people to visit your advertisers. In our humble opinion, Wix is the best website builder for affiliate marketing; the value-for-money is superb, as is the user interface for even a newbie.
When deciding on which medium to use to promote your affiliate, harness your strengths! For example, if you’re not comfortable being on camera, then don’t rely on Youtube as your primary method of promotion. If you have a way with words, then find a written form of communication that suits you. Think about starting a blog or finding forums to contribute to.
If you are building a site that has the potential for information that will never age and remain useful for your audience, you have the opportunity to create what is known as evergreen content. It's important to carry out extensive keyword research before planning any evergreen content for a site like this, as your site could hugely benefit from the proper usage of keywords within such content.
To become an affiliate you will need to create an account. The commission is 50% per sale. It seems to be the highest in the market. Still, bear in mind that when choosing this or that pricing plan the person is going to pay once and get all of the 87 themes. This means he won't come back through the same link to buy another template. In this case, you will need to drive really good traffic to maintain a high conversion rate. The cookies live for 60 days. A good compensatory bonus is the renewal commissions. This means that when customers pay their yearly renewal fees you will get your commission from that. ElegantThemes doesn't provide any particular tools, so you will have to create something of your own.
However, affiliate marketing isn’t just about marketing your partners’ goods, or at the very least it can be about much more than that. Affiliate marketing is also an opportunity to create your own website or some other form of content and get paid to do so, because you’ll be running ads and providing other links to things your audience will genuinely want to buy, at least if you combine your affiliates and your interests correctly.
So let's assume for the moment that the average cost of a ThemeForest template is about $30. As in this article, we are focusing on making money from promoting and selling templates; we won't take into account other Envato products. So for one sale, you are going to get around $9. You can use the banners and logos provided or, if you are skillful enough, Envato Market API logo. The minimum payout is $50 and you can receive your money through PayPal, Moneybookers/Skrill, SWIFT or Payoneer.

I think content marketing is absolutely huge for affiliate’s, especially going into 2016, I think it will increasingly become something that will have to be adopted to gain domain trust, authority and good SERP rankings. Google loves quality content and if you want your website to stand the test of time, white-hat SEO is a must and content marketing is king!
Free to use: Weebly’s gives you enough tools to build a fully functional website. Not bad for a free platform! You won’t even need a credit card to sign up for your free account which is nice. There is plenty of room to upgrade to the paid platform but zero pressure from them to do so. In fact you can use the free platform indefinitely if you would like to.
