I would then get a hosting provider (a place to put the website on the internet) and a domain name (the name for the website), and then install WordPress so I could start playing around with the look of my website. I’d browse some free ‘themes’ (pre-designed ‘looks’ for websites) if I was tight on cash, or I might buy a high-quality one if I had the money.
SkimLinks is probably best for bloggers who want to write content around the affiliate link rather than add affiliate links to existing products. SkimLinks offers a lot of tools to compare commission rates and offers in order to customize your content to optimize your income. Once nice aspect of SkimLinks is that it offers lots of products for non-US creators, including popular UK brands like John Lewis and Tesco.
According to Beeskow Blay, “Authenticity is the key to developing affiliate content that brings value to your audience and, in turn, influences them to purchase featured products.” She advises affiliate marketing beginners to “keep your message and brand consistent, find your voice and avoid overly pitchy posts or product insertions that are misaligned with your brand.” She warns that audiences are “quick to spot affiliate fakery. If they feel misled, they’ll find another source of information and not return to your site or social pages.”
Free to use: Weebly’s gives you enough tools to build a fully functional website. Not bad for a free platform! You won’t even need a credit card to sign up for your free account which is nice. There is plenty of room to upgrade to the paid platform but zero pressure from them to do so. In fact you can use the free platform indefinitely if you would like to.

Individual sellers and companies offering products or services have to deal with their consumers and ensure they are satisfied with what they have purchased. Thanks to the affiliate marketing structure, you’ll never have to be concerned with customer support or customer satisfaction. The entire job of the affiliate marketer is to link the seller with the consumer. The seller deals with any consumer complaints after you receive your commission from the sale.

Finding a focal topic isn’t enough. The chances are, it’s been covered to death. The broader the subject, the harder it is to compete for. The emphasis here is on finding your niche within broader subjects. A niche can really help you shine in any form of content marketing. For example, running enthusiasts might hone in on trail-running shoes specifically like the Running Shoes Guru. This site includes hundreds of running shoe reviews, and ‘best of’ pages movie fans might specialize in classic movie re-releases. Likewise, electronics hobbyists could promote something as specific as Electronic Drum Kit Reviews.

Love your lengthy article about ‘Why People Fail To Do Affiliate Marketing With Success’. I am currently in my 5th month of affiliate marketing and there is so much to learn. I can relate to many of the points. When I first installed Google Analytics, I would check it constantly and felt so depressed with the dismal figures. Now I try to focus more on building my content and only peek into GA once in every few days.
Many affiliate programs will often run promotions with good discounts or giveaways that might be attractive to your audience. For example, if you're an Amazon Associate and the site have a big Holiday Sale, it would be the perfect opportunity for you to promote discounts to your website visitors. This is a great way to promote your offers while also providing good value to your audience.
Have patience! That is my #1 tip for those that want to become their own affiliate marketing success story. You have to be patient. This is a business just like any other businesses. Most small businesses take, what, a few years to truly start turning a profit? Affiliate marketing absolutely is a legitimate business that can earn you well into the 6 or even 7 figures, but you should not expect that to happen without months, if not years of hard work and consistent effort.
HostGator is another incredibly popular site for affiliate marketers. HostGator currently hosts over eight million domains and is often ranked as the best affordable hosting platform on the internet. Starting at a very low price, HostGator offers free domain name and transfers, unlimited disk space, unmetered bandwidth, and a free website builder with over 4,000 free templates to choose from. They also have a 99.99% uptime guarantee and a full 45-day money back refund if you are unsatisfied with their service.
I absolutely love what I read in this insightful article because it is full of great information. This is fascinating and interesting to me. This article must be read by newbies, I really found the article very helpful though am yet to apply them to my affiliates marketing. I must bookmark this page and read over and over again till it get sink into my memory. I would love to Share this insightful post. Best regards
This is my first comment on your blog and I am really impressed by the quality of the content! You said that Amazon is famous but it’s complex and I agree with you upon that. As a beginner, I don’t think it’s a good idea to join complex affiliate programs. I recently published an infographic about affiliate marketing sats (https://www.earnyfy.com/affiliate-marketing-stats-2016) amazon was not the list of top affiliate networks used by affiliate marketers. I think Clickbank is good for the beginner. And another I think liked is that telling people that it’s not as easy as it sounds. Most people think making money is really and when they know the truth they call it a scam and give up.
Many affiliate marketers use paid advertising to generate additional traffic to their site and drive more sales. Paid advertising on social media is often a good place to start, as these networks tend to be more affordable. You may also want to consider taking out inexpensive banner ads on small niche sites. Depending on your niche, Google AdWords could also be a good option to drive some paid traffic to your site.
A great post with so much detail – anyone interested in working online would do well reading your post as it covers all aspects of affiliate marketing do’s and don’ts. I find your point regarding relationship building very interesting. Also the importance of knowing the product you are promoting. Trust is key in affiliate marketing as competition is fierce and perseverance and patience are key.
If you aren’t HTML savvy, or you just enjoy saving time, then there’s a WordPress plug-in called Easy Azon that will make your blog posting a lot easier. It lets you research and add product links directly from inside your WordPress dashboard, rather than having to jump back and forth to Amazon’s website. There’s a paid version with even more enhanced features, like the ability to use it on an unlimited amount of client websites.

The real trick to succeeding with your first affiliate marketing website is to create a steady flow of content over an extended period of time. If you write interesting, engaging, and unique content for your website consistently for a few months, you will begin to gain search engine traffic. I’ll continue this guide on how to create your first affiliate marketing website by giving some content tips.

It’d be hard for Google to argue with this content not adding value. After all, some of the guides have received close to 10,000 shares and have been used by the brands themselves to educate their own customers. Generally speaking, each guide takes about 40-50 hours to produce, and is benchmarked to beat the best existing piece of content on the topic in virtually every aspect (from design and share-ability, to page speed and on-page SEO).

Now that you’ve done all the upfront research—finding your niche and exploring keyword possibilities—and setup your website, the next step in the progression is to start filling your site up with content, right? Well yes, but in order to do that you must find specific products to write about. Let’s get to the meat and potatoes part: selecting the products.

Most people typically progress into White Labeling after they've had some success with another product; typically as a way to solidify the gains they've had in that area. This means that if you're looking at getting the most out of a market, it will give you the ability to take some market share without needing to completely design a new product from scratch.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and leave a comment. Patience is really the key. Even when you think you are doing everything perfect usually there are still many things that you can improve. A lot of people will quit in the first 2-3 months because they didn’t make any money. But this is simply how things work online. It takes some time to gain people’s trust and increase your traffic.

On-site Analytics (preferably Google Analytics) – It’s free and can be easily integrated with WordPress and other website platforms. Google Analytics lets you see bounce rates, sources of traffic, keywords used to land your site, and a whole lot more. You can use this information in developing your topics that your readers like best and improve traffic of your site.
It’s okay to ask for help. You can’t know everything and at the speed, online marketing is moving something that works today can become outdated in 5 months. It’s okay to outsource the parts of your online business you can’t do yourself. Like designing a logo, writing blog posts etc. It’s also okay to learn more about affiliate marketing by joining an online course (check my 3 legit online marketing training programs here). If you already have a website/blog and tried affiliate marketing before but you failed to make a substantial income it’s because your marketing plan was wrong. Don’t abandon affiliate marketing or think you can’t do it.
Domain name – A domain name is the name of your website. It is the address internet users type in to access your site, instead of entering the numerical IP address. If you don’t have a hosting provider yet, you can get a free domain name with any of the shared hosting packages on BlueHost. If you already have hosting, you can purchase a domain a la cart for as low as $9 per year.

Hi, Jamie! Very good list. I needed something like this for 2018 so that I know what to target in the future blogs I create. As for now, I’m comfortable using SiteGround affiliate network and it’s pretty good actually. Their hosting service is pretty much the best considered its price. I’ve tried others but SiteGround stands out. I’ll also try new affiliate networks, something from the list you have just provided. I think Amazon is too saturated at the moment, and I need a better network. 2018 will be interesting indeed.
The e-commerce interface is smooth and will get you selling fast - it's also really easy to get your banner ads and other icons up and running with tracking codes; you don't need to be a software developer to do this, as with the other affiliate website builders we describe here. Provided you keep the design simple, you don't even need to hire a dev to make the page look professional. Put one of Squarespace's custom landing pages up as your front-page, and you can even use it to market the affiliate deal of the week, in an incredibly good-looking way.
People start out with very high expectations and end up in giving up because the money making part of their affiliate business is just not lifting off. From my own mistakes and the learning curve of many other online entrepreneurs, I can tell the most reasons for failure in this business are caused by the wrong mindset or the lack of proper skills.

Well, in my personal experience, affiliate marketing makes up the largest chunk of my blog income. Since getting started back in October, I’ve made a few thousand dollars from affiliate marketing (including $1500 in the first 30 days!). The road to get there wasn’t easy though… affiliate marketing isn’t just about dropping links and hoping people will buy things. There is, in fact, a lot more strategic thinking involved, which brings us to the next major question:

This article is a good one I started affiliate marketing around 2010 but quit alonged the line because I was not getting the necessary traffics needed but now I see most mistakes I made was targeting more niches and not focusing on one. Also did not do more research on the products so as to get more information about it… Lastly as being impatient. Maybe if I had made more research on how affiliate marketing works, that would have helped alot. Thanks for the insights
Affiliate marketing allows you to make money online, even if you don’t have a blog, website, or any products of your own. Following a few simple steps can get you up and running within hours and earning your first commissions right away. Affiliate marketing really is one of the fastest and easiest ways to make money online and should be a part of every online business owner's portfolio.
Once you’ve got a topic and possibly some products to promote, the next lessons you’ll want to go through are ‘Finding and Registering a Domain Name’ and 'What to Look for in a Hosting Provider.' These will give you a hand with setting up your own domain name and hosting, and then you should have some help from your hosting provider to install WordPress.
