Be clear about what exactly is that you want your users to do and also explain to them how to do it if it’s necessary. Guide your audience to the right action and make sure your call to action is relevant to that particular page/post they are reading. Eventually, you will create many calls to action like buttons, “Click Here”, “Sign Up” “Leave a Comment” etc. So, you must determine in advance what you want to achieve with each one of them.
Strive to become an authority. It doesn’t matter if your niche is the silliest topic in the world, as long as you’re “THE” site to check out when it comes to everything about fidget spinning (or whatever niche you decided to focus on), then your website is a success. To become an authority within your niche, you have to be consistent with publishing content, provide value to your readers, and make it a goal to earn your readers’ trust.
Hi Mauricio truthfully I was not aware that WP could be hacked so that never crossed my mind. But if you have these concerns there are other content management platforms such as SquareSpace, Wix, Weebly that do an awesome job. They may not be as good as WP but they still get the job done. I love WP because of all the plug ins and themes that are available to help me customise my website the way I like it. I’m not very sure that SquareSpace, Wix or Weebly has the same. Good luck on whatever you choose.

There are so many questions you are probalby asking yourself. Do you shell out the money to have someone build a website for you? Do you use one of the “drag and drop” website builders out there like Wix or Weebly? Will you need to learn computer code? Is a WordPress website better than other web building platforms out there? These are just a few of the questions that are probably running through your head.
Affiliate Marketing Tip #5 – Avoid Overcrowding: If success at affiliate marketing could be achieved from throwing up pages of banners - then the world would have lots of millionaires. A site with pages of banners or rows banners stuffed under content has the opposite effect on people. It also has the added bonus of making your site look pretty ugly.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #9 – Create Original Content: There are a lot of article sites where you can get free content to use on your website or blog. There are free articles out there on almost any topic. But beware. Google looks for duplicate content. If they see an article on your website or blog that is identical to the content on others, they will penalize your site in the search results ranking. So always try for original content.
Previously known as Affiliate Window but now officially referred to as “AWIN” after acquiring Zanox a few years ago, this network claims to work with over 13,000 active advertisers and 100,000 publishers (affiliates). Founded in Germany, AWIN’s merchants primarily hail from Europe (especially Great Britain) although the U.S. network is growing rapidly. AWIN is currently active in 11 countries.
Hey Cliff, building a successful, informative blog is a whole (massive) topic to tackle in itself 🙂 My tips here are more meant for beginner/intermediate bloggers who are seeking to monetize their existing blogs through affiliate marketing. if you’re looking for blogging advice though, there’s plenty on the Blogging section of my site here: https://happytowander.com/category/blogging/ Hope that helps!
1. Patience is one of the most important parts of growing your list of readers. It takes time for online viewers to come across your blog. In addition, if your content is limited, there simply isn’t much for readers to consume, at first. The older your blog and the larger amount of content you have, the more readers will see it and visit regularly.

Making your own site on a paid-hosting account with WordPress is simple. You don’t have to have any technical experience at all and you do not need to learn any coding. And by making your own site it will be put together exactly the way you want it to and you’ll be able to make changes to your site without having to wait for help (or additional expense) to do so.

Great post, Sean! I have been using Adsense for the most part for two years now and each year, due to great content, my income has doubled. Thanks for all the great content, and this is sure to open my eyes a bit more to the likes of Amazon, which, I will admit, I have been ignoring due to the way they treat their affiliates. But, maybe it’s just me being a turd….

Overall, WordPress is the best option for businesses going big. Although the price mounts up with the added plugins and the premium themes - if you're serious about building your affiliate website then they'll seem nothing more than a great investment. The other options, on the other hand, are great for beginners and have a range of impressive themes and delicate layouts to offer.

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. If you only promote one merchant’s products, you are stuck with their commissions, their landing pages, and ultimately, their conversion rates. It is important to work with many different merchants in your niche and promote a wide range of products. This affiliate marketing strategy will diversify the amount of commissions you make and create a steady stream of revenue when building an affiliate website.
Being locked in with one company or one single product might seem like the easy streamlined route to how to be successful in affiliate marketing, but you’re actually doing yourself a great disservice by doing so. I feel that the best way to approach your affiliate marketing business is to expand your possibilities and horizons by not putting your eggs in one basket, but having many baskets open to attract different referrals and give you more opportunities. This way, if you have problems with one business you’re doing affiliate marketing for, it won’t be such a large hit to your success, and you can focus on other products your audiences will like more.

The real trick to succeeding with your first affiliate marketing website is to create a steady flow of content over an extended period of time. If you write interesting, engaging, and unique content for your website consistently for a few months, you will begin to gain search engine traffic. I’ll continue this guide on how to create your first affiliate marketing website by giving some content tips.

One great traffic driver for me has been my new Travel Resources page. I put it up less than a month ago, created some pretty pins for it and it has done superbly well on StumbleUpon and Pinterest (racking up over 1.5k repins). This boost in traffic has helped substantially increase my conversions for Amazon, which was not a huge earner for me before. So, traffic + affiliate links = happy money dance.
Darren is one of the most prominent affiliate marketers around, precisely because he’s always open with his history, his techniques, and his success. This post is from 2013, so he’s had three more years to rack up his success, but even then it was impressive. In 2013, it was the 10th year he had been working affiliate marketing with Amazon, and he had racked up nearly half a million dollars.
1. EasyAzon flat-out didn’t work, and their customer service was the absolute worst. 2. Genius Links worked, but often the same products wouldn’t be available on other Amazon sites, and the link would redirect to another product or a search page full of irrelevant products… not ideal. Plus, I was getting more clicks, but not enough international conversions to justify the $9 a month [seriously guys, Amazon does not pay well haha]. Long story short: this is a complication to be wary of!

Hey. I run a blog for about 8 months, what it’s you wrote, that it’s not worth to add links to every post when you have no traffic it’s true. I focused on writing useful content all the time and I did not focus on adding banners or links. It was worth it because Google loved my website much faster and started to see traffic after about 6 months. Thanks for this interesting article.
Tim that great advise, I surely do appreciate it. I paid some amount of money last year for someone to help me establish my own website, however I never took it further than that. Now I have tried a few different online scams, that are just that “SCAMS” ! They don’t tell you 90% of the negative behind it, like e-bay or amazon and retail marketing for example. So, anyhow I have a little online experience in different areas, and I have nothing but time on my hands I lost my career a few years back and I can no longer drive. This is fantastic I’am going to take some time and figure out what I am truly interested in and have some knowledge about and start a web site or two. From my heart I truly thank you for the wisdom and encouragement.

Sponsored posts pay affiliates marketers upfront to create content that promotes a specific product, service or brand. Once you have a following, sponsored posts can be very profitable. After all, you have to create content anyway, you might as well try to get paid for it. Even after the initial payday, sponsored posts can be money makers since you often can include ongoing affiliate links to the sponsor’s products within the post or in sidebar or banner affiliate ads.

Have patience! That is my #1 tip for those that want to become their own affiliate marketing success story. You have to be patient. This is a business just like any other businesses. Most small businesses take, what, a few years to truly start turning a profit? Affiliate marketing absolutely is a legitimate business that can earn you well into the 6 or even 7 figures, but you should not expect that to happen without months, if not years of hard work and consistent effort.

Browsing between products, you’ll notice a steep difference in the amount of commission offered from one to the next. Often, you’ll find there is a trade-off between the quality of a product and the commission paid. Naturally, it’s tempting to gravitate toward the products that pay the most per sales (conversion). But, realistically, if those products are unlikely to convert, they might not be the best fit.
One last word of advice on products; don’t recommend something you don’t believe in just to get a click. Find something that you are happy to promote and that your target audience will benefit from. That’s not to say that you should be using each product you recommend. You should just trust that the product is worth your visitors hard earned cash. It won’t serve you well to willingly recommend anything that may affect your reputation among your site visitors. If a product doesn’t rate well, it’s advantageous all round to offer alternatives.
