Hi, Jamie! Very good list. I needed something like this for 2018 so that I know what to target in the future blogs I create. As for now, I’m comfortable using SiteGround affiliate network and it’s pretty good actually. Their hosting service is pretty much the best considered its price. I’ve tried others but SiteGround stands out. I’ll also try new affiliate networks, something from the list you have just provided. I think Amazon is too saturated at the moment, and I need a better network. 2018 will be interesting indeed.
Fill your website with content that will be useful to the people who are interested in your niche, and place your affiliate links throughout in the most relevant places. That way when someone interested in your content clicks your link, they go to a sales page for a product that they might also be interested in, and if they buy it you get a commission!
Once you set up your website, get your content flowing and schedule all relevant social media your web traffic will begin to pick up. You can make good passive income money online with affiliate marketing.  If you’ve done everything properly you will find that money from purchases and click-throughs comes into your account when you aren’t even looking.
Great article as it gets me thinking about the various ways to monetize my sites. With that said, my biggest hurdle has been how to get started building traffic. You see articles all over the net talking about massive traffic techniques, but I’ve never really found a guide for a fresh blog/website and how to get to their first 100, 500, or 1,000 daily uniques. Of course writing consistent quality content is key, but writing alone an audience does not make. Any tips or articles to point us to? Thanks again Sean!
We can setup the website to automatically post all new content as tweets to Twitter. This helps get each new page a backlink from Twitter, which in turn will help new pages get indexed. Besides new pages on the site, it is also a good idea to post other content to the Twitter account, and we can use RSS feeds for that. This will help keep our Twitter account "real" and not just look like a self-promotion tool.
Great article Vera. You outlined all major reasons why people fail in affiliate marketing and I completely agree with all of them. I think the main problem is that most affiliate marketers promote products they haven’t tried and don’t believe them to be really worth paying for. They think of money first before providing value. I also agree that ywhen you are just starting online you need to focus on one niche, one website only until you become successful. Jumping from product to product, from niche to niche is not a good start.
This is slightly different from training and support as this department will deal with any technical problems with your website. Therefore, if your website goes down or an error appears technical support will help you sort the glitch out. A good technical department will make or break your marketing because if your website is not working properly your business will not flourish.

The e-commerce interface is smooth and will get you selling fast - it's also really easy to get your banner ads and other icons up and running with tracking codes; you don't need to be a software developer to do this, as with the other affiliate website builders we describe here. Provided you keep the design simple, you don't even need to hire a dev to make the page look professional. Put one of Squarespace's custom landing pages up as your front-page, and you can even use it to market the affiliate deal of the week, in an incredibly good-looking way.

Browsing the web, you’ll have noticed various call to actions to sign up for a brands newsletter. Digital marketers have long encouraged their readers to subscribe to their lists. Email lists let you contact previous site visitors, outside of them being on your website. This is what makes them so effective, they expand your reach. The flexible structure of emails allows plenty of room to get creative.
Hello, Jerry so good to read your post as usual. I always look at your work and I am amazed at how professional and well detailed your work is. You are right with what you said about affiliate marketing and I feel the same way too. This is a great way to work for yourself and live life on your own terms. You have a ton of awesome information that will inspire your readers.

Given that Amazon is the world’s largest internet marketplace, their affiliate program is used by a great many sites. In 2015 Amazon.com revenue surpassed $100B, and it’s affiliates likely generated $10B of it. This doesn’t mean Amazon is necessarily the best fit for your site though. Commission rates are fairly low (4-10%), which means if you’re promoting a cheaper product it could take you awhile to see positive ROI. That said, Amazon is a good option to explore because of its sheer quantity of items and brand reputability.

Affiliate marketers can use how-to guides offer simple and clear instructions showing readers how products work and how to perform specific tasks. These are often used by digital marketers because they provide clear value to their readers, and elevate you in their minds as an authority on your chosen niche. What’s more, these are often long form in nature - going into detail to cover complex topics can improve your pagerank in search engine results pages (SERPS).

The site has grown immensely popular as one of the first of its kind, though its design has been mimicked endlessly in the years since it reached success. It’s estimated that, as of the time of the post I linked above, it was making an estimated $20,000 per month from Amazon affiliate sales alone, along with more from, eBay partner sales and referrals to a whole host of other sites, like ThinkGeek and Wicked Lasers.
If you want to be a better basketball player you should watch some highlights of Michael Jordan. Similarly, if you want to create a successful affiliate site you should analyze other successful sites in your niche. To do this, put yourself in your audience’s shoes. Open up Google and type in the keywords they would use to find your site, then click through some of the sites on the first couple results pages.
Your web host is responsible for hosting all of the files necessary for your site to function. When choosing a web host you’re going to have a variety of options to choose from. Some will be dedicated towards sites with large volumes of traffic, while others will specifically host WordPress sites. We offer a detailed breakdown of hosting options here.

On one hand, long and ugly affiliate tracking links are a straight giveaway to people that you want to sell them a product (and people may be uncomfortable clicking on them). Therefore, making your link shorter and "nicer" looking will it give a more professional appearance. One of my favorite plugins for making links look "pretty" is the Pretty Links WordPress plugin.
Leadpages claims that its affiliate program is not exclusively for affiliate marketers, which is true, but the narrow focus of this niche means that only professionals affiliate marketers will ever be able to earn significant income from the program. Leadpages’s affiliate program does offer quite a lot of different options (webinars, videos, blog posts, free marketing courses, etc.) to send referrals to, which can lead to higher conversion rates if done correctly.

Great content, my problem has always be the niche until I made researches on selecting a good one. The most important part of building a blog is to find the right niche, which is often overlooked. If you choose a niche with too much competition, high – level websites will beat your blog down. If you choose a smaller, demand – free niche, your blog will hardly make an impact. You need to find a niche in the middle and an easily monetizable niche as well.

Providing wrong products for your audience will ultimately lead to your failure in affiliate marketing. You need to know your audience. You should know which category the readers of your blog belong to. This is why selecting a particular niche helps. Someone searching information about XBOX games will have more interest in buying games rather than books and novels.
You can read the rest of his post above for a bunch of tips on becoming an Amazon affiliate success. Some of the tips are pretty common, like “get more traffic,” but that doesn’t change how valuable Darren’s site is as a whole. You can also listen to a more recent post about his success – showing he topped the $500K threshold – with this podcast post.

High ticket products can also give you greater flexibility when it comes to advertising too, both in terms of how much you can spend, before you break the bank and in terms of advertising platforms and techniques which are available to you. Facebook and YouTube, for example, are very sophisticated advertising platforms. They’re also rather expensive to use. You simply can’t afford to use these platforms for low value items. Spending $500 in advertising is much more easily recouped with a high ticket program.

Stay on top of the latest and greatest products within your topic and feature them in recurring posts.

“All types of posts have affiliate potential,” says Formaro. “On Amanda’s Cookin’, we match appropriate cookware and even ingredients in some cases to the recipes we create and post. On my Crafts by Amanda site, we match crafting products to our do-it-yourself kids’ crafts and home decor projects. These affiliate links add value to readers and are great ways to monetize recipes and how-to projects.”
With a good relationship to your visitors, they don’t come to follow your link for buying something to be off and gone forever. If they rely on your two cents about products they are interested in, they will come back to learn more from you before their next purchase. This is the principle of turning one-time buyers into satisfied repeat customers.
Affiliate marketing on prominent coupon sites such as Groupon and RetailMeNot have proven to be highly successful. People love a bargain, and savvy shoppers there are often discounts available when shopping online. The best thing about this type of content is that instead of relying on your content and brand influence to push for conversions, you can rely on your readers love of a bargain. These shoppers perform searches to seek out these discounts. There are a lot of coupon style websites dedicated to promoting affiliate products to capitalize on this search traffic.
